Montell Fish, an artist who cannot be compartmentalised, makes music that incites intense emotion and genuine infatuation. Now he is back with a new collection of sensitive gems on his second album ‘CHARLOTTE’, which will be released on 27 September. He is coming to La Madeleine on Friday 13 December.

Montell Frazier, better known as Montell Fish, is a Pittsburgh-based artist and producer whose music is somewhere between lo-fi soft-pop, chill hip-hop and R&B. Through his albums, EPs and side projects, the 26-year-old singer-songwriter explores the depths of his emotions and intellect. With each release, he creates references and metaphors that draw on his anxieties as a young artist trying to reconcile the contradictions of the world: in love, religion, art and faith. Raised in a practising religious family, Montell Fish began his musical career as a Christian rapper. With his new album ‘CHARLOTTE’, scheduled for 27 September, Montell experiments with new sounds and explores new themes, distancing himself from the strict framework of religion. For the first time, he allows a co-producer into his creative process, Jacob Portrait, who plays bass in psych-rock band Unknown Mortal Orchestra. The album ‘CHARLOTTE’, recorded between Paris and New York, features collaborations with Clams Casino, Alex G and Daniel Caesar.
