TALIAN SINGER-SONGWRITER VINICIO CAPOSSELA COMES TO LA MADELEINE IN BRUSSELS ON 24 NOVEMBER

  Italian singer-songwriter, troubadour and visionary Vinicio Capossela is coming to La Madeleine in Brussels on 24 November. A versatile artist, Capossela weaves into his music influences from blues, opera, jazz, avant-garde and Italian folk music.   Celebrated for his eclectic style and theatrical performances, Capossela debuted in 1990 with ‘All’una e trentacinque circa’, with which he won the prestigious Targa Tenco. His subsequent albums, including ‘Modì’, ‘Camera a sud’ and ‘Ballo di San Vito’, showcased his diverse musical influences, from jazz to South American rhythms and Balkan brass. He has since built an impressive discography.

  Known for his dynamic stage presence, Capossela has collaborated with artists such as Marc Ribot and Evan Lurie. His creative journey has included acclaimed works such as ‘Canzoni a Manovella’, ‘Ovunque Proteggi’ and ‘Marinai, Profeti e Balene’. His recent projects, such as ‘Ballate per uomini e bestie’ and ‘Bestiario d’amore’, highlight his literary inspirations and innovative compositions.

His music is influenced by various styles, from blues and jazz to opera, as well as Italian folk music. He draws inspiration from American musician Tom Waits and from German-American composer Kurt Weill. Lyrically, he draws a lot of inspiration from well-known literature, including the works of Oscar Wilde and Charles Bukowski. Capossela was described by the Sunday Times as ‘Italy’s greatest secret’. His live shows are known for a mesmerising combination of rock and theatrical stagecraft.  

Capossela’s latest album, ‘Tredici canzoni urgenti’ (2023), once again won him the Targa Tenco for Best Album.
