Skye Newman is known for her authentic, raw voice. After a series of viral cover videos on TikTok, she quickly built a loyal fanbase before making the switch to writing her own soul and R&B songs. With her debut single “Hairdresser,” she made an impressive entry into the British music scene in March 2025 and immediately had a TikTok sensation on her hands. Her second single, “Family Matters,” was also critically acclaimed thanks to its unfiltered lyrics about intergenerational trauma.

Skye draws much of her inspiration from her time in South East London, where she spent her youth immersed in diverse cultures and the resilience of working families. She grew up in a low-income family, moved frequently, and encountered many difficulties early on. Skye discovered her love for songwriting thanks to her aunt, a jazz and blues singer. Musically, she is inspired by the storytelling of rap and the emotional depth of soul. Artists like Amy Winehouse, Adele, Bob Marley, and Eminem helped shape her sound: raw, honest lyrics that resonate with everyone who has ever felt overlooked.
